Floyd

Looks like we need a new cord to connect our camera to our computer.  So in the mean time, here you go:

Ellis, to Gabe, while she was going to the bathroom:  "This is a lot of work."

At lunch yesterday:  "I'd better eat one grape so I don't get a headache."

Praying with Ellis at bedtime the other night I said 'Lord' at one point, and when I was finished praying Ellis said:  "You prayed to Floyd...?...He's a nice guy?"  I need to enunciate a little more, I guess.

Ellis fell off her chair at the kitchen table a couple of days ago and hit her head loudly on the wood floor.  It's odd because:
a) she didn't really cry (and she cries at EVERY minor accident)
b) she doesn't seem to really remember it happening
c) she insists Janae was "frosting my head with frosting for cookies and then it all happened so fast"
d) all of the above.

The correct answer is d) all of the above.

Saturday at the Kite Festival

Ellis was so excited to get to the kite festival that although she didn't know how to get there, she led the way for most of the day.

Ellis up ahead. And also, I love the symmetry of this picture.

Still looking at her back.  I think we were slowing her down.

Free bouncy house!

$3 train ride that lasted approximately 3 minutes.  There was also a tip jar for the driver.  Sort of ridic.  But then again, we paid the $3, didn't we?  We need to build a train.  There were hundreds of kids at the festival and all this guy had to do was drive his homemade train full of mini passengers around the sidewalk for 3 minutes while dozens more waited their turn.  We felt sort of bad that Ellis was in a car all by herself, but apparently this was the train's one lull in the day.

E is in the second car behind Sunglasses.

Make-your-own-kite Station.  The options were things like ladybugs and flowers and then this freaky monster.  Ellis chose the monster.  I think she colored his teeth very well and I like that she chose yellow.

Hmmm...

This is what Maci did for the entire Kite Festival.

There were 3 alpacas to watch.

That dark brown one was leering at Ellis the whole time.  I didn't take my eyes off of him in case I needed to grab Ellis out of his way if he decided to lunge at her.  Would an alpaca behave that way?  I have no idea, but I didn't trust him.

Maci is big, but she's still little, too.  See?

New Face

Sweet.

Lovely.

Here comes the go-to silly face.

But wait...

A brand new, out-of-the-blue, silly face!

She cracks us up.

I think it's a winner.

Lilacs and Maci Cakes

The two ginormous bushes in one corner of our yard are lilac bushes!!!  I had one in my yard growing up, so I'm pretty psyched that there are hundreds of lilacs blooming in our backyard at this very moment.

Soaking in this baby girl as much as I can.  She seems determined to outgrow her age as fast as she can.  When I responded to a curious stranger that Maci will be 11 weeks tomorrow, the woman was literally stunned and speechless for many seconds. (read: the girl is big.)

But oh so cute.

And blue-eyed.

And sugary sweet.

And pretty hilarious sometimes.

I'm completely in love with her.

Ellis Quote

"I have the whole world to dance."

(Said to Gabe last night as she danced around the house.)

This quote captures her enthusiasm much more than the following pictures taken after her second dance class this past week.  I think the frog boots (that she wears because she can pull them on over her ballet slippers to and from dance class) are a nice contrast to her rarely seen serious side which she decided to display in these pictures.  Turkey.  :)

My new favorite part of the day:

Praying with Ellis at bedtime.  She's suddenly become the most grateful little person you'll ever meet.

Dear God.
Thank you for my Mama and Daddy.  And my bed, and my pillow, and my closet, and my door, and my curtains, and the bathroom, and Mama's cooking, and my bunny and my Bo Peep, and Maci's bunny and Maci's Bo Peep (little stuffed bunnies that look just like the Easter candy Peeps...Ellis thinks they are called "Bo Peeps").

Can I pray to God more?

-Yes-

Dear God.
Thank you for my sister, and my Mama, and my Daddy...

-This went on for some time.-

And you know I want to point out that she thanked God for my cooking.  She often picks at what I give her for dinner, so after I've spent around an hour preparing it, it's so nice to hear she's at least thankful for it.  Even if she can only be conned into taking a bite of it through bribery.  I don't promote this technique, but I do use it.

Happy Easter!

Meet my daughters:  Freaked and Crazy

It was at this point that I stopped photographing Maci's impending smoosh and rescued her from Lenny, er, Ellis.

This is the basket I photographed Ellis in on her first and second Easters.  Maci does not fit.  And also, Maci does not like being put in baskets that she does not fit into.  Now we know.

With their Easter bunnies, Hoppy and Bock.  Guess who named them.

Bock.

Another pic from the day that made me laugh.

Today we talked with Ellis a lot about why we celebrate Easter.  At bedtime, when we were done praying, I asked her if she wanted to pray for anyone else.  Most nights she says Janae.  Tonight she said Jesus and proceeded to ask that God take care of Jesus.  Very sweet.  Indeed.

Guess which one is in the 25th percentile for her age and which one is in the 90th percentile.

Tiny Dancer

I'll write some captions on Friday...too late tonight.
